This position is responsible for coding inpatient
and outpatient medical records according to ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 in
keeping with AHA coding guidelines. Codes are assigned to all
diagnostic and procedural statements as documented in each
patient’s medical record to determine the most accurate and
optimal MS-DRG assignment. The Coder would also be responsible
to enter the demographics and charges into the practice management
system. A check and balance to assure all charges are captures
will be put in place.
|CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credential. One year of inpatient/outpatient coding experience in an acute care facility required. Knowledge of PC applications including Windows and 3M Encoder. Must demonstrate coding proficiency by earning an acceptable score on a coding test.|
