Per Diem positions are now available in the Intake Department for Intake Coordinator; weekend availability is a plus!

The Intake Coordinator responds to all persons requesting assistance either by telephone or in person, and provides psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention and referrals to Hospital staff and services to outside sources, based on the nature of the problem(s) and financial resources.  Admissions to the Hospital are facilitated through coordinated efforts with the Business Office, Utilization Review and the Department of Nursing Services.



Duties include but are not limited to:


  1. Must be able to work Day or Evening shifts, weekdays and/or weekends (please note all shifts subject to change based on facility needs).
  2. Responds to telephone and/or walk-in requests for psychiatric assistance.
  3. Assesses each inquiry to determine clinical need of caller and/or patient, and makes referral to appropriate level of care.
  4. Makes arrangements with a member of the Psychiatric Assessment Team (“P.A.T.”) to evaluate patient.
  5. Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources.
  6. Takes all pertinent insurance information and contacts third party payers to verify insurance benefits and/or eligibility.
  7. Coordinates efforts with the Business Office Manager and patient to work out financial arrangement for private-pay admissions.
  8. Enters admission data into the computer system, making certain that the correct Hospital identification number and medical records numbers are assigned.  Prepares patient identification card.
  9. Makes certain that all aspects of the admission process are in accordance to standardized policies and procedures.
  10. Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical department of psychiatric hospital and previous clinical experience with

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required; Bachelor Degree in psychology, social work, education, Human services or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of education

focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field preferred.

Credentials: Completion of program or minimum of two (2) years experience as/or EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, or related preferred
