Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) provides complex medical and brain injury rehab, chemical dependency treatment for adults and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.
Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applications for a Central Nursing Supervisor. The Central Nursing Supervisor provides direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Provide medical management and assessment of patients. Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through. Make patient & task assignments to subordinates and monitor their performance of duties. Provide training and education to staff, patients, families, and others. Document patient care and ensure that data is accurate, and that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.
The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Completes nursing admission assessment of the patient within 8º
Pain & safety issues are assessed during admission and if identified as problems are included as nursing diagnoses in the nursing care plan.
Identifies nursing diagnoses (to include Knowledge Deficit, as well as Pain & Potential for Injury if identified), writes the nursing care plan, & obtains the physician’s signature within 24º.
Ensures that the patient orientation to the unit is completed within 8º, to include:
inventory of possessions,
explanation of Rights, Pain Management, & Safety
Assesses & documents findings when patient condition changes.
Communicates changes in patient status to physician & treatment team
The following are the job requirements for the Central Nursing Supervisor.
Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
Knowledge of milieu management. Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
Education and Training
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure and/or Certification
Current State of Texas Registered Nurse License.
Current CPR certification.
RNC; CRRN preferred.
One year of inpatient medical surgery, rehabilitation, or psychiatric experience preferred.
Able to sustain physical activity throughout scheduled shift.
Able to remain on feet throughout scheduled shift.
Able to physically restrain patients by individual or team restraint per policy.
Able to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance.
Able to push patients in wheel chairs up and down hills and pursue running patients.
Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, toilets, and vehicles.
Able to confront a dangerous and aggressive patient.
Verbal skills to deescalate a crisis situation.
Writing skills to accurately convey patient behavior and status.
Visual observation skills to convey verbally and in writing patient behavior or to protect self and others from aggressive patients or other accidents.
