We are currently searching for a Scheduler for our Acute Care hospitals. Under joint supervision by the Nursing Department and the HR Department, this person will be responsible for managing the employee staffing schedule for the 2 acute care hospitals. They will work very closely with all nurse managers to ensure there is adequate employee coverage that stays within the organizational guidelines. This person will work closely with HR to manage employee’s leave of absences (medical leave, work comp, vacation, etc.). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain employee schedule, to be completed a minimum of 2 weeks in advance
• Monitoring and notifying management of overtime issues
• Managing employee vacation and time off requests
• Developing a tracking system for schedule requests
• Maintaining daily attendance logs and review for trends
• Maintain regulatory record keeping
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of two years previous work experience preferably in healthcare or LTC with proven track record in scheduling or payroll or a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, business Administration, Psychology or related field. They should have excellent computer skills, as daily use of VSS Pro Scheduling Software and Microsoft Office products are required. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and time management and organizational skills are also a must for this position. Compliance with North Star’s Confidentiality policies is required.
