Position Summary:

Austin Lakes Hospital located in beautiful and vibrant Austin, TX has a per diem MEDICAL RECORDS SPECIALIST oppportunity. Austin Lakes Hospital offers a continuum of psychiatric services for adults 18 and up with acute mental health needs in a confidential, caring environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self awareness, personal growth and problem solving skills. Our continuum of care includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety and other behavioral health disorders.

Responsibilities include:

Chart assembly, track deficiencies, retrieve documents / charts, follow Request of Information / Confidentiality procedures, and filing for a small but very active Medical Records department.

Ability to consistently fulfill responsibilities and complete assignments. Must be able to multi-task, pay attention to detail, be organized, and work independently.  Excellent Customer Service skills and Team Member functioning.  Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and visitors.  Sufficient computer skills to use an abstracting / billing system.

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Some college

Required: None
Preferred: One year experience in a psychiatric hospital medical records department.

Ability to read and apply concepts from written material, to read and write legibly, to tolerate prolonged sitting, to concentrate for long periods of time in an busy environment, to walk and stand 70% most of the time, to bend, stoop and squat, to hear and to communicate effectively, to perform manual and finger motion sufficient to perform essential functions of the position.
