University Behavioral Health of El Paso has a great job opportunity for a Care Center Specialist. UBH of El Paso is a private psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care with 160 beds and a large partial hospitalization program.

The Care Center Specialist is responsible for assisting in the process of receiving, scheduling and/or referring inquiry calls. Assist the Care Center Intake Counselors, Coordinators and Director with coordinating assessments, initiating Intake paperwork and insurance information. Work with Admission Clerk to ensure smooth transition into the admission process.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Receive referral calls, obtain minimal demographic information, and refer the call to the appropriate source or schedule an assessment.
2. Process all requests for information and external referrals.
3. Completes pre-certifications as needed.
4. Assist in arranging for admission of patients, including alerting the business office staff to begin the verification of benefits, initiating calls to physicians and other related tasks as directed by the Case Manger.
5. Determine what Releases of Information are needed, and process them accordingly, per policy.
6. Assist in obtaining needed records and information.
7. Assist in maintaining all statistics; provide support to the Outcome Study, and other data, as assigned.
8. Maintains good communication with the Utilization Review, Business Office, and other staff as indicated.
9. Maintains log of received calls and disposition of the calls, and other informational tools as assigned.
10. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers, practicing good standards of customer service.


Education:  Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a clinical related mental health field; Or a min. of 10 yrs. of experience in admissions in a healthcare psychiatric facility.  Master's Degree Preferred.
Experience: Experience working in a hospital intake department or business office preferred.
