Position Summary:
Prepare and cook meals for students/clients/employees of the facility by performing the following duties: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of proper food preparation including receiving, storing, handling, and following recipes. 2. Prepare and serve food in quantities according to menu, number of people to be served, and portion control. 3. Demonstrate knowledge and assure maintenance of modified diets as instructed. 4. Use accepted techniques in handling, preparation, and serving food to clients and employees. 5. Receive, inspect, and properly store all supplies entering Food Service Department. 6. Monitor all kitchen equipment and appliances for malfunctions and proper temperatures. Report same to management. 7. Demonstrate proper use and storage of equipment and maintain a clean environment, including utensils, floors, equipment, etc. 8. Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety procedures, including the use of Standard Precautions, proper storage and use of chemicals, and properly securing the Food Service area. Also demonstrate knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets. 9. Complete all requested forms pertaining to Food Service area. 10. Provide positive, professional role modeling and maintains appropriate boundaries with clients at all times. 11. Cleans, maintains, and sanitizes all pots, pans, trash containers, cooking utensils, floor, shelves, coolers, freezers, store rooms, back dock, dining room, service area, and equipment to exceed any, and all, Health Department and weekly inspections. 12. Serves each meal to clients with a caring and professional attitude and displays service excellence.
 
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months previous experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in cafeteria style setting required. Healthcare experience preferred. Must be available to work weekends and either 6am-2pm shift or 9am-6pm shift.
