Position Summary:

Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening), ambulatory detoxification and residential substance abuse treatment for military servicemembers and their dependents. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.

Medical assistants take vital signs of patients, coordinate medical and psychiatric appointments, manage the medication orders procedure, and serve as liaison with the pharmacy. The MA also completes documentation for with lab work, follows the admissions & telephone screening procedures, and is responsible for completing 15-30 minute observation logs on all patients.

Part-time opening:  1 first shift (6:45am-3:15pm), 2 evening shifts (2:45pm-11:15pm) weekly.  May include weekends.  Per diem hours also available.

High School Diploma. Must be computer literate.  Certified Nurses Aide, EMT, Paramedic, Med Tech Certified, or Certified Medical Assistant strongly preferred. Substance abuse and/or psychiatric experience helpful.
