The Vines Hospital is a 98-bed comprehensive behavioral health facility located in beautiful Ocala. We provide 24-hour, 7-day a week services for those dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. The Vines provides detox, acute, residential, outpatient and partial hospitalization services for adolescents, adults and seniors. . The hospital provides individual, group, and family therapy, as well as community-based services to assist with ongoing recovery.

We currently have an opening for a qualified Mental Health Tech. The Mental Health Tech provides direct care to adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well being of the patients. MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient’s safety on the unit. Mental Health Techs work under the direct supervision of a Milieu Coordinator or Registered Nurse.

PRN staff must be available to work a minimum of sixteen hours per week and will be scheduled based upon the facility needs and census. Two eight (8) hour shifts during the pay period must be worked on the weekend. Please note: Saturdays and Sundays are considered weekend shifts.

1. Education: High school graduate or equivalent with some college coursework in psychology or related field. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field preferred.

2. Experience: One (1) year of related experience required, with knowledge of patient care techniques regarding co-occurring, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients with understanding of co-occurring disorders, preferred. Strongly prefer a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech working with children, adolescents and/or adults.

3. License/Certification: None required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) a plus.

5. Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions.
