Position Summary:

The Night Counselor at Boulder Creek Academy is committed to the following responsibilities in a therapeutic boarding school environment:

  • Supervision of students in a dormitory setting during sleeping hours.  
  • Ensure a physically and emotionally safe sleeping environment in accordance with facility policies and procedures and all licensing and certification requirements.
  • Primarily responsible for maintaining accurate count of students by conducting routine and periodic checks of sleeping quarters.
  • Supervise evening activities and movement of students.
  • Document activities/movements according to operation standards.
  • Resolve conflicts and contain inappropriate and/or unsafe behavior by following behavior management plans, setting and enforcing boundaries and limits, and maintaining adherence to agreements, according to company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and report occurrences to supervisor and other necessary staff to ensure the safety and general well-being of students and campus.
  • Manages medical and medication needs of students according to operation standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for Company and personal Service Excellence Standards.
  • Two years experience working with youth in related field and past night shift experience preferred. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age per Idaho licensing requirements.
  • Current First Aid and CPR and Crisis Intervention and Prevention training or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Must have the ability to remain awake and alert during overnight hours (8pm - 7am).
  • General knowledge of workplace and office safety.  
  • Ability to frequently walk throughout dorm rooms and ability to frequently climb stairs nightly to check on dorms 
  • Exposure to outside weather, either cold or hot. 
  • May often lift and carry, push and pull rate as very light. 
  • Stand, walk and sit at will. 
  • Ability to touch, hear, see and speak corrected to normal range.
  • Ability to complete a thorough visual inspection of dorms in low light situations.
  • Ability to quickly respond in an emergency situations
